2012 Supplemental Draft Held Tomorrow Via Conference Call
Sporting Kansas City will have yet another chance to bolster their squad ahead of the MLS season as they enter the 2012 Supplemental Draft which will be held tomorrow via a conference call, at around 1:00 pm. The draft will consist of 4 rounds of which Sporting KC have 5 picks. The picking order can be crudely defined like this: basically all the clubs that didn't do so well last season including expansion side Montreal Impact will have picks at the beginning of each round and teams that did well last season will have picks at the end of the round (i.e. LA Galaxy, Houston Dynamo, Real Salt Lake, Sporting KC, etc.).
Sporting Kansas City have picks 16, 35, 43*, 54, and 73. Sporting can use those picks to choose any collegiate player that was not picked at the Super Draft on Thursday. The most notable players include 7 foreign players that were invited to the combine earlier this month by MLS, but were subsequently not chosen in the Super Draft.
While there are still good players out there for Sporting KC and the rest of MLS, I don't expect too many of the picks to end up in a Sporting uniform at the start of the 2012 campaign. Maybe in the 1st and 2nd rounds, but after that there really is a huge gap between the players that were picked at the Super Draft and the players that will be picked tomorrow especially in the later rounds.
As ever, The Daily Wiz will have a complete wrap-up of the action later on tomorrow afternoon.

between the supplemental draft and the old 3rd/4th rounds of the SuperDraft
Kronberg (2006 4th Round) is the closest thing KC has come to an impact player in the past few years.
In 2003, they got Jack Jewsbury in the 5th round (#43 overall). They also got Taylor Graham in the 4th round who put together a 10-year career in MLS/USL-1. Arnaud (#50 overall in 2002) was obviously a great find. Of course, those are 3rd-round picks with a league this size.
Last year’s picks are out of soccer (Scales), in the Dutch 2nd division (Mravec), and a free agent (Jones). That’s pretty much par for the course, very little in the way of roster plays much less impact players.

If only we get to listen to the conference calls like MLB
MLB drafts have to be the worst viewing/listening experience ever envisioned for sports fans.
