Early MLS Cup exit presents Kenyan defender with opportunity as CECAFA tournament gets set to kick off.

While a majority of the Sporting Kansas City squad are partying with their 'swag' and what not in Vegas following the off-season, a calmer, less noticed player in the way of Lawrence Olum could be set to fulfill a life long dream of his. The Kenyan born center back is closer than he ever has been to representing his country on the national stage.

The Daily Wiz received word this morning from a source in Kenya that Lawerence Olum could very well make the CECAFA tournament squad list for Kenya. Head coach Henri Michel apparently emailed the player a few days ago and informed him that he is being watched by the national team and that they are thinking of including him in the squad. In fact, the coach wanted to know whether or not the player would even be available with the playoffs running into late Novemeber this year, a sure-fire sign the coaches are keen on giving Lawrence his first cap for Kenya. And with Sporting of course falling short of expectations this year in their playoff run, disappointment could turn into joy.
