How would Sporting KC fare against a Royals or Chiefs team that is doing well?
It's not a secret that Sporting Kansas City's popularity has benefitted from the lack of success in the other major league franchises in Kansas City. The Royals haven't won the World Series or even made the playoffs since 1985. The Chiefs haven't won a playoff game since the 90s, and are considered one of the worst teams in the league currently.
Sporting KC has taken advantage of this and provided a winning product, drawing new fans every year.
But say either the Royals or Chiefs turn it around and become perennial winners. Especially the Royals since their season competes with Sporting KC's.
