Sassano Out Two Months, Mitchell Cardenas to Train With SKC

Stay connected for news and updates

I got two pieces of news coming your way tonight folks that do not really warrant a single piece for the two of them, but instead are important, and short enough, to fit into one.

The first bit of news is that Sporting KC defensive midfielder Luke Sassano underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. The 26 year old is expected to be out 2 months and while he has never really been part of the first team rotation for Sporting KC, his presence at the heart of the midfield in reserve league games and possibly USOC games will be missed.

The second thing is that Campbell University midfielder Mitchell Cardnas will be training with Sporting Kansas City for ten days from June 7th - June 17th. Inviting college players to come train with them has never been that rare from Sporting KC and this seems to be nothing out of the ordinary. Still though, in the end, it was Sporting KC who invited Mitchell to come train and there is a slight chance there could be something between the two further down the road.
