Michael Harrington faces former club Sporting KC for first time

Stay connected for news and updates

Michael Harrington spent the first six years of his professional career playing for Kansas City Wizards and Sporting Kansas City, and will face his former club, the only club he'd ever known until this past December when he was traded to Portland Timbers, for the first time.

Granted Friday night's matchup is only a preseason tune-up for the 2013 Major League Soccer regular season which kicks off one month and one day from tonight, but it will be weird for Harrington and Sporting KC fans alike to see the University of North Carolina product playing on the other side.

Harrington will be in the starting lineup for Portland when things kick off at 7 p.m. CT:

Harrington, drafted 3rd overall in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft, played in 149 games for the Wizards and Sporting KC, scored 5 goals and assisted on 14 more.
